Filipino Defamation

I have recently been sent several emails claiming that I defame Filipinos, and this accusation does not shock me.  After all, Shay Cullen has made such accusations himself in complaints filed against him as far back as 1998, when he stated in counter affidavits that because I accuse him of libel that I am therefore also accusing his staff who were not named in the complaint.

As an example of this trickery, please note the way he tries to make it appear that anything he writes on the Internet is private and confidential and that HIS writing for which he is charged is the fault of the Preda staff:

This puts an emphasis as to how desperate Shay Cullen is to deflect the complaint away from himself and let others take the blame for what he does.

So, is Shay Cullen defaming the Filipino by this tactic, or am I defaming the Filipino people by filing libel against Shay Cullen for what HE wrote?

To be even more curious, am I defaming the Filipino people as a whole, or does Shay Cullen defame Filipino people?

Consider, when he writes things like "the mother sold her child", or "the pimp negotiated the sale of a child", or "the police were running around like Keystone Cops" (taken from his book, "Passion and Power"), or (again from "Passion and Power", pages 162-163) "There, in public, he put her sitting on his lap, draped her dress over his knees and had sex with her while onlookers stared but did nothing.", is he defaming Filipinos, or am I by making complaints about his lewd and malicious writings?

For example, the above statement taken directly from his book, he states that an American had sex with a 12 year old child while Filipinos stood by and watched.  Do you think that would have actually happened?

I don't.  My opinion of Filipinos, having living among them for many years is that they come from all over to protect their own.  There is no way that I ever remember any group of Filipinos that would stand still while a child was so abused, yet Filipinos (mostly supporters of Preda Foundation) claim that I abuse Filipinos, and because of this, THEY file false charges against me for having the guts to stand up against a priest who teaches his followers hatered of tourists.

In this regard, I invite all readers of this to go back over all of Shay Cullen's writings and find out how many times he has stated "tourist" without the prefix "sex" used, as in "sex tourist".  I searched through all the newspaper clips and his book, "Passion and Power" for an instance where he did not use the phrase "sex tourist" but rather "tourist".

I found ONE (1) instance where he said "tourists" without the accompanying word "sex". Perhaps you can find more, but there will not be many more in his thirty-plus years of writings.  In fact, what makes me smile ruefully is the email that I received from Raymond Reyes, where he called me in his email a "sex tourist" - I've been living in the Philippines for more than twenty years and have a Filipino family, so the term "tourist" does in no way apply to me.  Tourists do not own property - I and my wife own property.  Tourists do not have permanent visas - I have a permanent visa.  So, you see, Mr. Reyes, like so many of the misguided people who follow Shay Cullen as if he is a great man, is taught to refer to any foreigner in the Philippines as a "sex tourist" by Shay Cullen.

He mentioned in his email that he and his IT friends will make a web site against me so that the Filipinos will know that I am an "arrogant fanatical american pedophile" (SIC).  OK.

I dislike those who lie, and Shay Cullen does a lot of that.  His main problem with me is that I expose his lies, such as the episode where he climbed a power pole to protest "electromagnetic hazards".

Note here that he wants TWO (2) poles moved.  If you looked carefully at the layout of Preda and where the poles are located, if only two poles were moved, then the "hazardous" power would be routed behind Preda and actually CLOSER to the children's quarters.  Worse, the power lines would go over a cemetery to one side of Preda and over the heads of the whole village of Nagbuculou on the other side of Preda.  And the people in the Preda Foundation have the gall to say I DEFAME Filipinos?  With campaigns such as this, they not only defame the dead Filipino and the surviving members of the families, but put the lives of the living at risk simply so that the power poles will not block the view of Preda from Subic Bay!

Had Shay Cullen proposed a complete rerouting of the power lines to avoid ALL human habitation, then I would have been fully in support of the project, but due to the fact that the campaign was for such a limited approach with not a consideration of the respect that the dead should be given nor the welfare of human habitation, I look at what the goal was between the lines, and as I see it, the poles, as placed disrupted the pristine view of Subic Bay.

    Now that's childish, if true!

This is an added thought that was sent to me by a reader:  What if Shay Cullen wanted the two poles moved closer to the bay and not behind Preda?

To be fair, I had never thought of this before, but let's look at the topography here:  The ground slopes STEEPLY from where the poles are placed.  If they were moved toward the bay (and the distance would be a stretch for the wires), the wires would actually be closer to the ground where people reside.  Yes, this is true:  Across the street at the driveway entrance of Preda is a small community that has a sign on it that says "Property of Tapisapisan".  They live presently nearly directly under the high power wires, but were they mentioned at all by Shay Cullen in his bid to relocate the power poles?  If you note in the picture included here, you will see the trunks of trees in the forground and only tops of trees in the background.  This is how steeply the land drops off.

And Mr. Reyes has the gall to say I am arrogant!  Well, that is his oppinion and although I regard his feelings with little more than pity, it seems that hatered has been well taught by Shay Cullen, a priest who should teach forgiveness and love.  But does Shay Cullen teach forgiveness?  No, it seems.

The policies of Shay Cullen and his supporters is that all who come to the great country of the Philippines come for one reason, and one reason only, because they are all called "sex tourists".  If that is not defamation of the Filipino, what is?

Worse, when it comes to defaming Filipinos, Shay Cullen defames the whole country, claiming they sell their young, abuse their families and allow their children to be abused by foreigners with the government's full approval and help, but when I point out the lies that he says, then because he has Filipinos working for him and doing his bidding, I am therefore not defaming him so much as I am defaming Filipinos.

Well, certainly I am not stating for the record that there is no abuse going on in the Philippines; that would be stupid on my part, because let's face it:  sexual abuse is a world-wide problem.  But I am not abusing Filipinos as a whole:  If anything, I am trying to defend their dignity.  The only problem with this is that some Filipinos are so misled by Shay Cullen that they believe everything he says simply because of his fame, glory and priesthood.  And a priest that teaches those around him to lie and bear false witness is no priest of God.  He is, instead, a priest who teaches the opposite of the Commandments of God, and his reward will come whenever God decides.

And God will decide in His own time.
